Supervisor Meegan called the work session to order at 3:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Highway Supt. Matthew English.

Supervisor Meegan read the Fire Prevention Code instructing the public where to exit in case of a fire or an emergency.

Distributed pre-employment forms and reviewed hiring process with department heads

Supervisor Meegan requested the online job postings and application be critiqued

Town Attorney John Fenz referred to the proposed local law amending Personnel Policies to bring the Town Code into conformity with new hiring practices (background checks, physicals for new hires)

 

CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER JOHN GULLO

Power point presentation on unsafe structures in the town


Ø 

Supervisor Meegan questioned status of business at Seneca Street and Dirkson Avenue; Mr. Gullo responded it is structurally safe with the potential for a viable project; no violations at this time


Ø 

Supervisor Meegan referred to property on Lexington Green; Mr. Gullo responded the owner was advised the project must be completed in 30 days; court proceedings are ongoing


Ø 

Abandoned Property Neighborhood Relief Act has been proposed; $1000 per day civil fine


Ø 

Rezoning applications - Clinton Street for townhouse development and apartments (requires no town services); Queens Landing for townhouses on one side of street (4th time it has been redesigned, may need additional sewer taps); Schaefer Road for townhouse development

Councilman Hart not in favor of tearing down Kiwanis building until a plan is in place to replace the space; recreation space can be provided in the new library if grant money is received; Mr. Tanner stated the structure of the Kiwanis building is in good shape but it will cost $400,000 to fix other issues

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

          Motion by Supervisor Meegan, seconded by Councilman Hart, to recess to Executive Session at 4:10 P.M. to discuss three personnel issues & two legal issues.
