Supervisor Meegan called the work session to order at 3:10 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag led by Mitch Martin of Senator Gallivan’s office.

Supervisor Meegan read the Fire Prevention Code instructing the public where to exit in case of a fire or an emergency.
 
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER JOHN GULLO
Ø DePaul project is underway; east wing is at 3rd story level
Ø LA Fitness foundations are in; drawings still have to be approved by California corporate headquarters
Ø Paula’s Doughnuts should be open in about 30 days
Ø Working with Gerald Hathaway of the Chamber of Commerce to locate vacant buildings

Ø Hunting license sales began today

Ø Requested executive session to discuss bid award for concrete storm damage repair contract

Ø Thanked everyone for supporting National Night Out; Supervisor Meegan suggested moving the event to Veterans Memorial Park
Ø Discussions are underway to contract with a company to download accident reports online
Ø Requested executive session to discuss an employee issue

SUPERVISOR MEEGAN
Ø Received a request from Kiwanis members to use the Kiwanis building for a concert
Ø Kiwanis members want to build a shelter along the 90’ diamond in Veterans Memorial Park
Ø Farmer’s Market requested to return next year
Ø LA Fitness would like to use the front lawn of Town Hall for yoga & fitness demonstrations; Town Attorney John Fenz will contact their attorneys
Ø West Seneca Library construction grant was awarded for $439,018; a second grant application has been filed for next year
 
TOWN ENGINEER STEVEN TANNER
Ø Asbestos abatement report for Kiwanis building is complete; will be asking for a bid date at next board meeting; electrical has to be moved, but it is high voltage so it may not be done by town employees; Supervisor Meegan suggested asking FEMA for an extension on demolition of the building
Ø Heather Hill Drive – pre-construction survey and video is done; storm sewers were approved; anticipating week of August 17th for start with completion the second week of November; restoration next spring
Ø Requested executive session for two contractual and one negotiation item
Ø Hilltop Court project - major construction will be completed in next couple days
Ø  Beechwood Drive project - water service was approved by Department of Health; currently tearing up storm sewer that needs to be replaced
Ø Surveying for Rosewood area has been completed by Town Engineering staff
Ø Burchfield comfort station – NYSEG payment was delayed which postponed turning on electric for two weeks; Buildings & Grounds Department will do final restoration
Ø Camelot Drive lighting – NYSEG payment was delayed which postponed turning on electric
Ø Flohr Avenue project – will be submitting a design to DEC within the month for the outfall structure; check valve was installed which significantly helps
Ø Forest Drive – preliminary review was done; will put together a synopsis for the October meeting
Ø Senior Center restrooms are complete; restroom renovation at Town Hall will begin shortly

Ø Today is last day for adult kickball registration
Ø Playground season ends this week
Ø Upcoming free public events at the bandshell
ü Tai Chi class August 11th at 5:45PM
ü Youth Theater Junior presents Beatles Wizard of Oz on Friday, August 14th at 6:00 P.M.
ü Youth Theater presents West Side Story on August 21st at 6:30 P.M. and August 22nd at 1:30 P.M.
ü Movie in the Park - Dolphin Tale 2 on August 28th at 8:15 P.M.

YOUTH SERVICE COORDINATOR LAUREN MASSET
Ø A questionnaire was presented to summer camp kids asking what they would like to see in a library; board members commended Lauren on a great job with summer camp and would like to see it increased to allow for more children; participants of this year’s summer camp asked to be notified for next year
 
SENIOR RECREATION THERAPIST OF SENIOR SERVICES MARY JOSEFIAK
Ø Ribbon cutting was held last week for the new restrooms
Ø Meeting at senior center on August 25th for library discussion
 
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion by Supervisor Meegan, seconded by Councilman Hart, to recess to Executive Session at 3:55 P.M. to discuss a contractual matter with Highway Supt. Matthew English.

The board members returned at 4:00 P.M.
