Dog Licenses

General Information

  • New York State law requires all dogs four months or older to be licensed and have updated rabies vaccinations.
  • Town ordinance states that homeowners are allowed a maximum of three dogs per household.  Any premises with more than three dogs must secure a multiple dog housing license.  The Town Clerk shall issue a multiple dog housing license after the Dog Control Officer performs an inspection of the premises.  In the event the number of dogs at a premises increases, additional licenses shall be required.
  • The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for issuing licenses, processing license payments and updating dog status only.
  • Residents may contact Animal Control Officers at 716-823-2988 for any other concerns regarding licensed or unlicensed dogs.
  • Please notify the Town Clerk Office when, for whatever reason (ex. deceased, moved) your dog is no longer living in the town.

Annual Fees

  • Unspayed/Unneutered: $18.00
  • Spayed/Neutered: $11.00
  • Senior Resident (aged 65+) Unspayed/Unneutered: $10.50
  • Senior Resident (aged 65+) Spayed/Neutered: $3.50
  • Replacement Tag Fee: $3.00
  • Multiple Dog Housing license:  $50

First time licensing the owner must:

  • Provide proof of rabies vaccination (not to expire within 30 days of licensing)
  • Include certificate of spay/neuter (if applicable)
  • If mailing, complete the New License form, include check or money order payable to West Seneca Town Clerk, provide proof of rabies vaccination and certificate of spay/neuter

License Renewals

ONLINE DOG RENEWAL

RENEW ONLINE - Renewal may be made online with a valid rabies certificate.  To update rabies certificate, please email certificate to jwelz@twsny.org.  Please allow 24 hours for rabies certificate to update in the online system.

Annual renewals will be sent to the owner's home from the Town Clerk Office. Renewals may be brought in or mailed to the Town Clerk office.
