Town Pool Open Swim Season Passes
*Open only to residents of the Town of West Seneca
 

Unlimited use of the Bi-Centennial Pool for the current season
 
3 Member Pass $100.00
   $20 for each additional member

Single Member Pass $40.00

Passes available at I.D office located in the Kiwanis Youth Center
   Must provide proof of residency in order to obtain seasonal pass

GENERAL ADMISSION FEES:
Adult (17+): Resident with ID Card -  $ 3.00
Child (6-16): Resident with ID Card -  $ 2.00

Adult/Child Guest - $ 5.00

 

Children 5 & under   -  NO CHARGE
Spray Pool   (5 & under)   -  NO CHARGE

   Bi-Centennial Pool Admission Regulations

 

  • A Town of West Seneca photo ID card is required to be admitted for use of the pool.
  • A photo ID card entitles the holder to Town Resident Rates.

Guest Privileges

1.  Anyone without a Town of West Seneca ID card is considered a guest.

2.  Residents of the Town of West seneca who wish to bring in a guest must follow the
     procedure outlined below:

  • Guest must be accompanied by a resident 12 or older of the Town of West Seneca who holds a valid ID card.
  • Guests must pay the guest fee.
  • Guests have to sign in the "Guest Book" at each visit
  • Guest privileges may be restricted on days when the pool is full or near capacity, to ensure space for West Seneca Residents.


Subject to Restrictions

  • Children 9 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult, in the water.
  • Life Guards are responsible for having persons removed from the pool if they do not conform with all rules and regulations, including state and local health laws.

 


   
Summer Swim Lessons

 

Children must be at least 6 years old by August to participate in Summer Swim Lessons

 

  • Monday/Wednesday  or  Tuesday/Thursday at the Bi-Centennial Pool
  • If any class is cancelled, it will be made up and classes may run past the allotted time frame
  • Every week until August 6th & 7th
  • Classes are held 9:00 am - 12:50 pm for about 50 minutes each
  • All classes are offered at 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM & 12 O'Clock
  • Once a maximum number of students is reached, that class will be closed
  • Each level needs a minumun of 6 students to take place
  • Parents & Guardians are not permitted to be on the pool deck during instruction, however the spray pool will be open during swim lessons for observation of lessons.  Adults are also allowed to observe lessons outside of the fenced area around the pool

 

 

Cost for swimming lessons is $30.00 for Residents & $40.00 for Non-Residents

 

 

Level 1 - Age 6+
Helps participants feel comfortable in the water.  Each child will develop the skills essential for pool safety and a sense of awareness in the aquatic setting and have a solid foundation of the front crawl and floats.

Level 2
Gives participants success with fundamental skills.  Will begin to develop independence in the water and a better understanding of aquatic safety.  In addition to the skills learned in Levl 1, students will have a foundation established for both front and back crawl. 

Level 3
Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper water.  Students will have a foundation established for front & back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke.  Students will also begin to develop diving skills.

Level 4
Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills.  In addition to the skills established in Level 3, students will learn the butterfly stroke and improve on diving skills.

Level 5 (Class combined with level 6 course)
Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes and diving skills.

Level 6 (Class combined with level 5 course)
Refines the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. 
  
Students will receive a swim card upon successful completion of each level.

 


Lifeguard Training

 

 The Town of West Seneca is pleased to be offering the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training program for the 2014 summer season. 
The class will run for approx. 8 classes from 9 am -12 pm at the Kiwanis Youth Center & Bi-Centennial Pool.

 

In order to participate in the Lifeguard training course all participants must meet the following prerequisites & skill assessments:

1.Must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course. 

2.Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. 

3.Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits, or above the water. 

4.Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: 

  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water.
  • Swim goggles are not allowed. 
  • Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
  • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath.
  • Candidates should not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Costs for Lifeguard Training: 

$50.00 - registration fee
$150.00 - course fee (paid only after candidates complete the above skill assessments)

Aqua Buddies

West Seneca Recreation offers Aqua Buddies for developmentally disabled children ages 6-12.  In this class students will be able to explore the water with our instructors and develop a better awareness to the aquatic setting.
All instruction will take place in the shallow end and with experienced instructors.  

Cost for Aqua Buddies
$30.00 - Resident with valid Town ID Card
$40.00 - Non Resident
 


 

Senior Swim / Lap Swim

Tuesdays & Thursdays until August 13th
1:00 PM - 1:50 PM

This will be a non-instructional time block set aside for only seniors as well as for those who wish to swim laps.
Lap Lanes will be in place to accomindate lap swimmers as well as an open area for those who wish to simply enjoy the pool.

*To qualify for Senior Swim you must show a VALID TOWN OF WEST SENECA SENIOR ID CARD. NO OTHER FORM OF IDENTIFICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.
*Lap Swim is open to any resident who meets the open swim guidelines for entry.  Please refer to Summer_Open_Swim for more information.
**Lap Swim admission will be the same as Open Swim.
